Wade's surgery.

On Tuesday Wade will have a vitrectomy done. The purpose is 3 fold....
1. To remove all debris. ie. bone, blood, etc. (motes and beams are to be removed by Wade :) )
2. To remove any scar tissue that is forming.
3. Spot weld, with a laser, the edge of the retina down, as a precaution, to give it a little more strength against detachment.

Wade was noticing a blindspot in the lower 7:30 position. Damage to a certain part of the retina produces vision problems in a corresponding area that is inverted and reversed. During the last Dr. visit the Dr. noticed another damaged part of the retina. What we now believe had happened is that the nail went through the eye and hit the other side of the eye...although not penetrating it. This would account for the blindspot. Those blindspots will be with him forever. His eyesight is now 20/25 out of the bad eye. Praise The Lord for that. Up close is still a bit problematic. There is a 90% chance that the operation will be a success. The 10% is bad though.....His eye will fail. Not much of a middle ground.

I am so sorry to hear that there will be blind spots for the rest of his life. But thankfully, he won't really have them "forever", one day he will have a perfect body!
Still praying that the outcome of the surgery will be the best it can be.

Hey Wade, my dad has two blind spots from a stroke and he's doing just fine...although he sometimes won't shake your hand because he doesn't see it. :D Praying for ya!

Hi Wade...
Just thinking about you. My kids thought the motes and beams were pretty funny. I'm sure you only have motes. Lots of love and praying for you,
Marian

Just so you all know...we are still praying here in NC and believing in God to perform a miracle! Thank you for the updates on here. So often, we hear about an accident or disease and never the recovery. God be with the doctor tomorrow!
